Once Upon a Time, There Was You by Elizabeth Berg
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
My usual test for a book that I'll keep reading is the first 50 pages. If those pages are good, then I'll proceed through to the end. This book passed the first 50 page test, but failed miserably through the middle and end.
This book had me at the beginning with the first 50 pages, even through 100, but lost me entirely after that. You know when you begin to ask yourself why you should even care about the characters, that you have lost that zone of faith you build around the story. Once I passed page 100 I felt forced to read the remainder of this book, not a pleasant experience. Berg is clearly a very talented writer, but this book just wasn't up to the standards of her other books.

I have enjoyed most of Elizabeth Berg's past books as well. So I'm disappointed to hear that this one just wasn't quite up to her same standards. Thanks for the review!
