The Bullet Journal Method by Ryder Carroll ~ a totally life-changing book

The Bullet Journal Method: Track the Past, Order the Present, Design the FutureThe Bullet Journal Method: Track the Past, Order the Present, Design the Future by Ryder Carroll
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

To say this book was life-changing for me would be an understatement. I was mired in to-do lists and abandoned planners until I found this book.

I checked this book out of my library thinking, okay here we go, another method that I'll fail. Planning is not my strong-suit, but I can see I need it desperately. Ryder Carroll shared his own story, and how he couldn't get anything done until his boss shared a new idea for a to-do list, and Ryder Carroll tailored it to his needs and created his own system in this book.

Before reading this book, I had watched quite a few videos on bullet journals and was a little turned off by the creativity and fancy lettering that some people put in their bullet journal. I knew that just wouldn't work for me because I would be more focused on being creative than actually planning out my life and accomplishing things. This book taught me that, using Ryder Carroll's message freed me, and I started getting lot more done. Now I have a B6 Stalogy notebook (which I love) in a cover that was my Dad's, and I'm getting more done every day, and planning the future well too.

This book is good enough to own, so I may buy my own copy soon. I love this method and I love Ryder Carroll for sharing it with everyone. Total awesome book!

Deconstructing my Happy Planner into my A5 size Day-Timer ... did I stick with it?

Thanks for watching my deconstructing of my Happy Planner into my A5 size Day-Timer Garden Path planner. The Happy Planner is about the same size as the Erin Condren planner and has similar pages and feature sizes. The main difference is that the Happy Planner cost about half what you would pay for the Erin Condren planner – in my case for the one I would have considered purchasing was almost three times the cost of the Happy Planner. Even though I had the gift certificate that would cover the $70 Erin Condren planner, I still chose the Happy Planner.

Goals for 2016 ~ planning, makeup, project pan, product reviews

Welcome to my channel. Here are my goals for 2016 – covering health, planning, and beauty. One additional plan that I’ve made is to read more. I mention my writing, one of the reasons I started using my planner the way that I have.

In the future you will see:

- More videos on planning and my planner (highly requested)
- More product demos and reviews (also highly requested)
- You will continue to see unboxing and project pan videos

And I’ve now had two requests to see an updated makeup storage and collection video, since I got the new vanity and second Alex cabinet from my wonderful husband.

Please stay tuned … and subscribe

Brand New ~ Happy Planner ~ review, first decorations, and musings about #writing

Welcome back to my web site! Below is my planner video about my new Me and My Big Ideas: Happy Planner. It was much nicer than I expected. I watched many, many videos on YouTube before I dove in. I’m very happy with this planner. For me it isn’t just a planner – it is a goal planner. I’m hoping it helps me focus on what needs to be done as well as those things that should be done. Writing is a huge focus of my planning.

I admit that I might consider an Erin Condren planner for next year. If you would still like to buy an Erin Condren planner, here is a link to adiscount

Life Planner - Free daily goals PDF - using this may help you stay on top of your goals #planner #planning

Well, I did manage to create a document for use in the desk size planner and/or A5 Filifax. What I've created is the basic to do list for your planner.

Here is what it looks like:

I printed this page for my planner on both sides of the paper - I loaded it manually.

I designed the text portion of the document to allow for decorating with washi tape. Here's a simple design I made:

As you can see, I demonstrated regular size washi tape (top) and narrower washi tape (bottom). What I don't show is that I hole punched both sides so I can date and use, then flip to the other side. Hopefully I've inspired you.

I find this design works exceptionally well for planning. I use these in addition to regular planner inserts from Day-Timer and find these pages really do help me stay on task and get things done.

I'm planning to also create a diet and exercise log - stay tuned, it'll appear soon.

Here's a link to download the form: Goals planner page

Comments are welcome  :-)

My Life Planner ~ before and after

So I really admired the Erin Condren life planner with its cool cover and month and weekly pages. It was so nice that I toyed with buying one. The sticker was the high price and I was sure I could find something comparable for less, so I started looking for an alternative and just happened upon the planner I'm using completely by accident at CVS. I bought these supplies:

... and I managed to find some really cool supplies on Amazon too.

Here's the final planner:

And here is the YouTube video where I review the process f making this planner:

Use these to decorate the inside of my planner - absolutely love these markers!!

I got these Mead Academie water soluble markers on Amazon and love them!

I've been drawing, painting, and writing all my life, so these markers appealed to me immediately. Yes, you can use these to create a masterpiece like the one on the cover of the tin. I've been using my markers in a completely different way - I use them in my 2014-2015 planner. Yes, I bought a spiral planner that is very plain on the inside, at least until I started decorating it. Rather than buying an expensive planner I opted to buy a $7.99 planner at CVS. I decorated that planner with stickers tape, and using these lovely markers, and every weekend I decorate the upcoming weekly page. These markers write so beautifully and the colors are so stunning. Yes, you can use them to create a masterpiece, or you can use them the way I have for daily and weekly use. These will not collect dust in my home like so many of my other art supplies have.

A couple important points: these are a wide range of colors, the tin give you ideas with regard to using them for art, and the tips are super durable. I worried that they would wear down the way so many felt tip markers do, but they stood the clumsy capping test - I looked up at the TV while capping one of the markers and ended up pushing the tip, hard, into the palm of my hand. No I wasn't hurt, but I worried that I may have ruined the marker. It survived! The same marker, one of my favorite colors, is perfectly fine and didn't get smashed. The tips are super durable and passed my clumsiness test. This is a great set of markers!

Life Planner! My alternative to the Erin Condren planner

Well, I really loved the look of the Erin Condren planner. I wasn't prepared for the hefty price tag this year... maybe next year. It really is a beautiful planner with so many options.

So, I decided that, since my pocket-size calendar is nearly outdated, that I would go look for an alternative in an 18 month calendar, one that I could start using right away. I searched high and low, went to Barnes & Noble online and in person, searched through Amazon's vast collection, but still didn't find anything I liked. Then I went to CVS to pick up a few unrelated things... and there it was.

I bought a simple notebook size PlanAhead 18 month planner, some stickers, pulled out markers I already had, and my husband made name stickers for me. This is just for starters.

The planner is already starting to look great and I have more and more ideas for it every day. It's really fun to play with it and personalize it.  Here's a YouTube video I made discussing this and other things I purchased from CVS. I'll post an updated video after I've finished personalizing it.

I'm really enjoying doing this so far, and this is turning out to be a geat alternative.
